Naked On The Run Palette Review

As a fan of all things Naked by Urban Decay I was anxious to get my hands on the Naked On The Run palette, which was conveniently released right around Christmas time. As a VIB member of Sephora (from spending way too much money there eek) I received a $20 off coupon, so my husband reluctantly let me purchase it on the grounds that it would be wrapped and put under the tree until Christmas (*sigh* so close yet so far away...).

Overall the palette is pretty great. The packaging is gorgeous, albeit a little on the bulky side for a "travel" palette.

The palette contains a medium matte bronzer, bright pink blush, highlighter/eyeshadow named 5050,  5 new eyeshadow shades: Dive (metallic rose gold), Fix (matte taupe), Resist (medium metallic taupe), Dare (matte brown) and Stun (metallic dark bronzey gold). It also features a full size lipgloss in Sesso, sample size 24/7 Glide On eye pencil in Stag and a sample size of the Perversion mascara.

In theory this palette has everything you would ever need for the traveling woman, the only thing its missing is a brush. And considering the packaging is so bulky and it's priced at a hefty $64, you'd think they could've found some way to include at least an eye shadow brush...but I digress...

All in all I do love this palette and I pick it up quite frequently. The eyeshadows are gorgeous for a natural "no makeup" makeup look or a neutral smokey eye. I find I'm most drawn to the shades Dive and Fix. The lipgloss is the perfect "my lips but better" shade and the formulation is very nice; it's smooth and not sticky. I hate sticky lipgloss. The eye liner is great - I don't use eye pencils very much (I'm a liquid liner gal) but when I do I love using the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On pencils. They are so creamy and pigmented and last all day. And the mascara is good - it's not the best mascara I've ever tired - it does the job.

Negative points: the bronzer and blush are hyper pigmented (which isn't necessarily a bad thing) but the bronzer is so orangey toned that it looks crazy with my skin tone (pale pale, ghostly pale...). Maybe in the summer when my skin has a little more sun it will translate better....

The blush is so pink that even the tiniest bit on my cheeks looks like I'm either aspiring to be a clown or a drag queen - take your pick.

I also find that there's a lot of initial fall out when I run my brush through the eyeshadows - they seem chalky in the palette and then I'm faced with eye shadow dust everywhere....But I guess that makes them bendable...I don't know.

So my conclusion is that the majority of the palette is great! With these all-in-one travel palettes not everything is going to suit every consumer, Urban Decay did their best to accommodate every skin tone and I think they did a pretty decent job. I'd buy it again and I'm glad I have it as part of my collection. Just wish it came with a dang eyeshadow brush!
